چکیده

This paper introduces an application of a particular form of rough granular computing in fusing (combining) sensor readings. The intent of this paper is to describe a system that engages in a form of knowledge discovery based on sensor fusion. Such a system responds to sensor outputs in a manner that is selective, determines the relevance of each sensor in a classification effort, and constructs information granules computationally useful in arriving at a decision (proposed solution to a problem) in a problemsolving system. A sensor is a device that responds to each stimulus by converting its measured input to some form of usable output. Relevance of a sensor is computed with a rough integral that computes a form of ordered weighted average of sensor values. The construction of an information granule depends on the selection of a threshold for sensor values. Only those sensors with rough integral values approaching a selected threshold are fused (i.e., used to construct a granule). The contribution of this paper is the introduction of a sensor fusion method based on rough integration. By way of practical application, an approach to fusion of homogeneous sensors deemed relevant in a classification effort is considered.

An information fusion approach by combining multigranulation rough sets and evidence theory

Multigranulation rough set (MGRS) theory provides two kinds of qualitative combination rules that are generated by optimistic and pessimistic multigranulation fusion functions. They are used to aggregate multiple granular structures from a set theoretic standpoint. However, the two combination rules seem to lack robustness because one is too relaxed and the other too restrictive to solve some p...

A New Approach to Self-Localization for Mobile Robots Using Sensor Data Fusion

This paper proposes a new approach for calibration of dead reckoning process. Using the well-known UMBmark (University of Michigan Benchmark) is not sufficient for a desirable calibration of dead reckoning. Besides, existing calibration methods usually require explicit measurement of actual motion of the robot. Some recent methods use the smart encoder trailer or long range finder sensors such ...

Designing a Home Security System using Sensor Data Fusion with DST and DSMT Methods

Today due to the importance and necessity of implementing security systems in homes and other buildings, systems with higher certainty, lower cost and with sensor fusion methods are more attractive, as an applicable and high performance methods for the researchers. In this paper, the application of Dempster-Shafer evidential theory and also the newer, more general one Dezert-Smarandache theory ...

Towards a theory of granular sets

1. INTRODUCTION: Set theory as a branch of human endeavour was developed by the efforts of many mathematicians [ Kam ]. Such a theory found many applications in science, technology and other fields. In an effort to capture uncertainity in human reasoning, Zadeh formulated and studied the theory of fuzzy sets. The theory of fuzzy sets found applications in many branches of science and technology...

Quantitative information architecture, granular computing and rough set models in the double-quantitative approximation space of precision and grade

Because precision and grade act as fundamental quantitative information in approximation space, they are used in relative and absolute quantifications, respectively. At present, the double quantification regarding precision and grade is a novel and valuable subject, but quantitative information fusion has become a key problem. Thus, this paper constructs the double-quantitative approximation sp...
